Food is the New Rock

Ep. 158 - Singer/Songwriter/Producer/DJ Matthew Koma is this week's podcast guest.  He's worked with Alesso, Carly Rae Jepsen, Tiesto and Zedd (who he co-wrote Clarity with) and has toured all around the world as a singer and DJ.  We talk to him about coffee, his favorite sushi spot for special friends only, and the place he took his Grandma too in NYC before seeing Lady Gaga in concert.  Plus he admits to being an oatmeal fanatic, and teaches us all about overnight oats.

Ep. 157 - This week's we talk to Nic Adler, who not only runs the Roxy and founded the L.A. Vegan Beer Festival but also curates the food and booze at all of Goldenvoice's major festivals- including Coachella and FYF Fest (which is this weekend.)  We talk to him about all extra focus that music festivals are paying to their food nowadays and the thought process that goes into choosing the vendors for massive festivals like Coachella and FYF.  Nic also talks a little about what it was like growing up on the Sunset Strip as the son of legendary club owner/music manager/record producer Lou Adler and how things have changed food wise over the years.

Then, after the podcast, get a sneak peak at our brand new show The Crawl featuring Zach and Jason Stewart (aka DJ Them Jeans) taking you on a dumpling crawl through the San Gabriel Valley.  The full show is available exclusively through HOWL, the brand new premium audio service launched by the people behind Earwolf & Wolfpop.  Get more info at howl.fm and use the promo code CRAWL to get one month free so you can check out the new show we made.  Do it.  Do it.

Ep. 156 - This past weekend Zach went up to S.F. for Outside Lands, and for the third year in a row we recorded a special podcast from the festival.  This year we were excited to partner with Chefsfeed who let us hang backstage at their GastroMagic stage, eating drinking and interviewing people all weekend long. First we spoke to Chefs Evan & Sara Rich from the excellent S.F. restaurant Rich Table (right after they threw porcini donuts to the crowd while Pat Mahoney from LCD Soundsystem DJ'd).  Then Zach stumbled into former Grateful Dead and Google Chef Charlie Ayers (from Episode 151), followed by the return of Chef Chris Cosentino (Cockscomb) to the show.  Then electronic musician Dan Deacon and artist Emilie Baltz came on to talk about their musical performance involving popsicles as instruments, and the podcast closes out with hilarious Comedian Jon Gabrus (from the High & Mighty podcast).

All the photos from the weekend can be found at www.foodisthenewrock.com and coming soon you'll be able to find recommendations from Dan Deacon on the Chefsfeed blog.
